It’s only October and the Arsenal squad has been decimated by injury. Surprised? Me neither. Nonetheless, January becomes even more crucial than before. The back line was already threadbare and Koscielny’s injury compounds that tenfold. Some would say a centre back was needed even before Vermalean’s departure this summer (and they would be right) so Wenger simply cannot afford to let January pass without signing a centre back. In fact, Arsenal need two.

Chambers will be first choice right back with Debuchy out and should not be burdened with doubling as back up centre back as well at such a young age. Monreal did ok yesterday, but two natural centre backs should be brought in to relieve both Mertesacker and Koscielny. A defensive midfielder is the other big need that should have been addressed in the summer and must be rectified in January. Wenger recently announced his intention to do business in January and we can only hope he keeps his word.

Yes you hit the nail on the head, Arsenal desperately needs “spine players.” However, in order to get Wenger off his dilly dallying duff, it is absolutely essential to circulate rumors that any or all of the above mentioned players are CAMs. For decades Wenger splashes money on an overabundance of CAMs , yet stubbornly refuses to shell out money for DMs and Defenders.

Arsenal team are not aggresive enough. They play with fear, they play like someone who need phychological attension, they lack tackle, they don’t have perssion for goal. I think they need to be access, they need to step up their game.

    M’Vila isn’t good enough and is a problem-child
Carvalho is young and good, but lacks real pace.
Sami K looks the most likely IMO
And I’d prefer Reid over Hummels, because he’s epl experienced and in the same class as the German.
