A number of you have noticed that there have been issues with the availability of the website recently.

Despite our upgrade of the server, it would seem that we have underestimated the amount of traffic we would be getting, and this has now placed a strain on the current machine.

For those of you who are curious, the site is running off a dedicated server with these specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
1GB 400MHz DDR RAM

Some configuration tweaking to the backend of the server put in yesterday didn’t manage to compensate for the traffic during the Manchester United match, and as such, the site was unavailable for nearly an hour.

We are now exploring other options to increase the availability of the site, amongst these are doubling the memory in the machine to better cope with the database requests.

Please bear with us, and I will post an update before the FA Cup game this weekend.
