Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce wants to bring Kieran Gibbs to Selhurst Park, The Sun reports.

The new Eagles boss has targeted left-back as an area his side need to improve in January and out of favour Kieran Gibbs could be his first signing.

Gibbs who has just 18 months left on his current deal has endured a stop-start career at Arsenal. Plagued by injuries, the Englishman has struggled to hold down a regular starting role since debuting in 2007.

Now 27, the England international remains down the pecking order and is currently utilised as a back-up to Nacho Monreal.

It’s uncertain whether Arsenal will offer the defender a new contract, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be aware his transfer value will continue to fall as his contract expiry date draws closer.

Gibbs started at left-back at home to West Brom on Boxing Day. However his luck continues to be out, picking up an injury to his knee and had to be replaced.
