Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has put pen to paper on fresh terms with the club, tying him down until 2018. The big Frenchman has established himself as one of Wenger’s key men lately, bagging 14 league goals last season.

The 28 year old joined Arsenal in 2012 after leading Montpellier to an unlikely Ligue 1 triumph, and quickly became first choice for both Arsenal and France. He hasĀ 41 Premier League goals in 97 total league appearances

He enjoyed his best season at Arsenal last year despite missing the majority of the first half with a broken ankle, and is tipped to kick on this season.

Despite Arsenal’s apparent interest in several centre forwards, Giroud is still expected to play a big part for the club.

The Frenchman famously announced he is not worried for his place if another forward joins, instead insisting it will be good for the club.

Whether or not another forward joins, we will need Giroud to be at his best when called upon as he still offers much to the side wit his hold up play and intelligence. He is a massive part of the side’s core, which Wenger is keen to keep intact.

Let’s hope the player can stay fit and more importantly bag more goals.
