Olivier Giroud is in a good mood to go along with his good form. The Frenchman has been on a goalscoring rampage lately, taking his tally to 13 on the season last weekend with his brace against Newcastle. He has 10 in his last 12 matches in all. An on form goalscorer usually translates to wins for the side, and Arsenal have won 6 Premier League matches in a row.

The club haven’t lost in the league since the 2-1 setback at Tottenham, and haven’t lost in any competition since the 3-1 loss to Monaco in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Arsenal now find themselves within 1 point of second place City and 7 points behind leaders Chelsea (albeit with a game in hand), with 8 games to play and Giroud thinks the side can pull the unthinkable. According to reports in the Daily Star, Giroud had this to say about the title race:

“It’s nice for the team because we are on a really good run, even if we were disappointed about the Champions League. We want to finish really strongly and finish in the best position by winning every single game.”

“There are still eight games to play, so we need to focus on our games and step by step we’re going to see what happens.”

“First we need to win every single game and then after that we need to see if Manchester City or Chelsea miss one of these steps to the end.”

“You never know. You have to believe in football and that’s why we want to win every single game to give ourselves the best chance.”

Giroud has a point, is Arsenal where to win all of their remaining matches, the lads would stand a good chance of claiming the prize. It is still a long shot for me though, and we will just have to wait and see how it pans out. I will say one thing though, if the lads continue to play like this, the title will be within reach for years to come.
