Mathieu Flamini has refused to blame Arsenal’s poor start to the Premier League season on the Gunners ever increasing injury list.

At the moment, Arsene Wenger is unable to call upon key first-team players such as Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, Jack Wilshere and David Ospina.

Wenger moved to bring in Germany’s highly respected fitness coach Shad Forsythe in the summer, with many viewing the appointment as the one to end Arsenal injury ‘curse’. However, this hasn’t been the case, although Arsenal’s midfield terrier, Flamini isn’t using that as an excuse for the Gunners who currently sit in seventh place with just eleven points from their opening eight games.

The Frenchman was speaking to the Guardian when he said: “We’re having injuries but we don’t want to hide behind any excuses,”

“We’re facing the truth – we didn’t win on Saturday and we’ll try to find a solution for the next games.”

Arsenal play Anderlecht in the Champions League tomorrow night having lost one and won one of their opening two games in Group D.
