Lukas Podolski has rubbished reports suggesting he is looking for a move away from Arsenal. The World Cup winner admitted he is unhappy with his current role but insists he wants to remain at the club and fight for his place.

It has been a miserable campaign for Podolski so far, having seen his chances severely limited. Good on him to choose to persevere through these hard times and good for Arsenal as well as he still much to offer in my view. Podolski has a strong argument for best finisher at Arsenal (Sanchez may have something to say about that) and with him on the field Arsenal always have a goal scoring threat.

It is hard to score from the bench though, and Podolski says he is not happy with his bit part role.

“At the moment I am not thinking about changing the club. No question,” he said.

“I cannot be happy with my current role in the team, That would be nonsense, if I say the opposite. We will see what happens. I want to play and I still have a lot of fun playing football.

“I love the competition, going out there for 90 minutes, fighting your opponent, if you take this competition away from me I am not happy.”

He went on to say that he is unsure what exactly is keeping him out of the team and that talks will begin in the next coming weeks regarding his status at the club.

“I don’t know the reasons for my situation, you’ve  got to ask the coach”.

“You always have some rumours when you don’t play.

“Currently there aren’t any changes, neither have there been any talks, we will see what happens in the winter.”

“Of course my goal is to play and when I don’t get that chance I have to go seek a solution for myself and look for talks, that will happen in the next few weeks.”

You cannot blame Podolski for his frustration as he has been extremely unlucky to be kept out of the team. We can only hope, for Podolski’s sake that he is give more opportunities soon as we all know what he’s capable of.
