News is breaking around social media that Everton’s Leighton Baines has been forced out of England’s next two fixtures – Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia and a friendly against Scotland – meaning that Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs will more than likely be Roy Hodgson’s left-back of choice when the Three Lions kick-off tomorrow.
Us Gooners, injures aside, know that Gibbs is comfortably a better left back than Baines, however, only now is the Arsenal man starting to genuinely be seen as a rival to Baines by the rest of the footballing community; Gibbs may not have the attributes of Baines going forward, however, Baines does seem to forget he’s a defender at times – all the time.
Anyway, Baines’ bad news is good for our Arsenal man and Twitter reacted wonderfully to the fact us Gooners will have another chance to potentially have six players on the pitch at the same time representing the Three Lions.
It shouldn’t take an injury to Baines for Gibbs to be England’s first choice left back. #AFC

Kieran Gibbs will now start for England tomorrow. The Baines injury could be the luck he needs to get a place but thoroughly deserved #AFC

@tomtuck01 Gibbs has been better than Baines and Shaw this season.

that is good for ggibs
Some deluded comments here. Better than Baines? He’s got far more assists than Gibbs and created far more chances this season, last season and all the seasons before.
