Alexis Sanchez should win the PFA Player of the Year Award ahead of Eden Hazard. The award is set to be handed out on Sunday, the same day as Arsenal’s big clash with Chelsea, pitting the two teams’ biggest stars against each other yet again.

Much debate has surrounded the topic, with opinions divided concerning who the winner should be. Chelsea look certain to win the league, and as such Hazard has dominated many fan votes, but is he the rightful winner?

Arsenal bias aside, the Alexis Sanchez deserves the award, as the Chilean has reveled in what is just his first season in England. He has has scored and assisted more than Hazard in league play despite the latter having two seasons more worth of experience. It is worth noting as well that Chelsea have been buoyed greatly by the arrivals of Costa and Fabregas this summer as well as Matic last summer, while it could be argued that the balance in the Arsenal’s side was only found midway through this season.

This means Alexis has had to carry the goal scoring tally nearly single-handedly until Giroud returned and the side found its form later on.

For me, Sanchez deserves the nod as well for his overall contribution to the side. Even when his silky touch and finishing edge has deserted him, his endeavor and work rate makes his a scary opposition. His sheer presence alone is enough to instill fear in his opponents, whereas Hazard is significantly less frightening on his off days.

Fair play to Hazard as well, who has been exceptional for Chelsea since his transfer in 2012, but for me the award belongs to Sanchez.
