Arsenal have been linked with a move for another defender to follow the imminent of arrival of Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal. This target comes in the form of 20 year old Empoli centre back Daniele Rugani, whose impressive showings in Italy’s top flight have earned him a call up to Antonio Conte’s Italian squad.

The Daily Star has now tipped Arsene Wenger with a move for the player, although no official approach has been reported just yet.

Rugani has managed 20 appearances in Serie A so far this season, helping the side to a 16th place standing at the moment. Empoli have struggled in the top flight managing just three wins and currently sit one point clear of the drop zone. They have been able to ground out ten draws though to just about keep themselves afloat and much of that has to do with Rugani’s good form.

He has been unlucky to be on the wrong side of results given his standout showings and could perhaps see the Emirates as a welcome change of scenery.

Not sure exactly how valid these reports are just yet, but added depth would be more than welcome at Arsenal. In truth, every big club should possess four centre backs, so if there is any truth to these rumours, my guess is my most gooners would be on board.

The player has much potential at age 20  and could learn much from Mertesacker, Koscielny, and Paulista. Tell us what you think of this news in the comments down below.

Sounds like a very promising player and the fact that hes Italian is a plus, they produce rock solid defenders, the only problem is 9/10 Italian defenders stay in Italy. Hes at a great age concerning ourselves as he wouldnt expect starting birth every week. I cant see Juventus allowing him leave the country or their own grasp.
