Arsene Wenger has revealed that he conducts his training sessions as close as possible to real game intensity. Speaking to the Arsenal Magazine, the boss shared some exclusive training ground insight, including his method of evaluating the team’s readiness to perform.

“The general plan is to play in training like you do in the game, or even harder,” he said. “But some days you have to ease off completely and not have the intensity because you need to recover after games. Basically you need to give the players the same intensity that they will face in a game.”

“Even the day before a game you can think to yourself: ‘That intensity is absolutely amazing, the players are ready to go out tomorrow and perform at that level.”

The boss continued.

“The team always gives you a vibe in training, like a weather forecast. Sometimes you think: ‘Yes, that’s right, they are there.'”

“Or other times you think: ‘Nope, they have switched off, they’ll have to work on their concentration otherwise they will have a disillusion on Saturday.'”

Arsenal cannot afford any more cloudy days to continue Wenger’s weather analogy. The business end is upon us and the time has come for Arsenal to produce the goods no excuses. The current winning run is testament to this and perhaps testament to these training methods the boss has described.

So long as these results continue, we gooners won’t care what the underlying cause is and what the “weather forecasts” predicts.
