Arsene Wenger has revealed the reason for Arsenal’s incredible recent run of form, and stopped short of giving full credit to the insertion of David Ospina. Reports earlier in the week confirmed that Ospina had achieved the highest win ratio (92 percent) of any player in Premier League history (who has played at least ten games), having won 11 of the 12 games he has played.

Many have now suggested that the Colombian’s form is perhaps the biggest reason for Arsenal’s turnaround, but Wenger was quick to point out other key factors. When asked if Ospina’s influence was the reason for Arsenal’s good fortunes, the boss responded by saying this:

“No, I don’t agree with you about that. We had many players back who were out in the first part of the championship Koscielny, Özil, Giroud.”

“They all came back and they came back into form as well in January. It’s a mixture of many things and, as well, Coquelin coming into the team and doing well.”

Wenger has a point. Ospina has been superlative between the sticks but much credit must be given to the team in front of him that made his life easier. Koscielny and Coquelin in particular really added stability  defensively, while Giroud’s goal scoring takes the pressure off the whole side really.

We gooners won’t care whose responsible, so long as this form and this more importantly these results continue. I would say every match from here on is a cup final, but tomorrow’s match with Reading will lead to a cup final, so the boys must remain focused at all times.

We need all the aforementioned players as well at the rest to keep up the intensity if Arsenal are to achieve their goals for the rest of the season. Wenger has confirmed that Szczesny will play in goal tomorrow ahead of Ospina, so the Pole will have a chance to prove that he can still contribute to the side as well.

Driving Arsenal to success?
