Reports from L’Equipe are claiming Arsenal are just days away from agreeing a new contract with centre-back Laurent Koscielny.

The France international nicknamed ‘Bosscielny’ by Arsenal fans is expected to sign a new deal which will tie him to the club until 2020.

It appears Arsenal have solved their defensive frailties in the centre-back pairing of Koscielny and German Shkodran Mustafi. The two have looked assured at the back since the former Valenica man’s debut in September.

Koscielny has been a regular since joining the Gunners from Ligue 1 side Lorient in the summer of 2010. He will be looking to add to his two FA Cup winners medals and rally his side to Premier League glory this season.

If the dependable 31 year-old serves out his new contract, he will become Arsenal’s longest serving Frenchman, surpassing Thierry Henry (eight, 1999-2007), Patrick Vieira (nine, 1996-2005) and Robert Pires (six, 2000-2006).

What do you think Arsenal fans? Is there a better centre-back than Koscielny in the Premier League or is the Frenchman overrated? Let us know in the comments below.
