Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Arturo Vidal from Juventus for £21 million. Reports emerged last week that Juventus had agreed a fee and terms to sell Vidal to an unnamed “top European club,” and that Arsenal were among the interested suitors. It was also revealed that Alexis Sanchez was attempting to convince his international teammate to join him at the Emirates.

It now appears that it is indeed Arsenal who have agreed terms with Juventus, with a deal said to be nearly completed. The Independent reports that the deal between the two clubs is “90 per cent” done and is likely to be completed as soon at the conclusion of the Copa America.

The Daily Mail intimates that Vidal has agreed personal terms with Arsenal while in Chile, having spurned the advances of several other clubs.

Manchester United were also in for the player, but if reports are to be believed Vidal has opted for North London instead. These reports will be taken with a grain of salt until official confirmation, but gooners will be buzzing with excitement.

Vidal’s capture would represent a massive statement of intent and coup for Arsenal, and coupled with the arrival of Petr Cech who has jut been officially announced, could spell the beginning of a new era for the club.
