Arsenal are considering a surprise move for Eibar defender Florian Lejuene, Spanish outlet Marca reports.

Lejuene could be available for just £8.7m this summer but he’s already endured a failed spell in the Premier League, as he joined Manchester City in 2015 but failed to make a single Premier League appearance and joined Girona on-loan a year later.

Last year, the Citizens let the French defender leave to join La Liga minnows Eibar and he’s since played 25 games for the Spanish side in the league this term, scoring one goal, and has helped the side push to a respectable eighth place in the standings.

Lejuene has established himself as a key-player for Eibar this season but his services are easily securable if an interested party activates his £8.7m release-clause, which Arsenal are seriously considering doing as they seek to bolster their defensive ranks.

Capable of playing in midfield, Lejuene is primarily a centre-back and it’s difficult to see where the 28-year-old would fit-in at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal already boast the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker.
