So, there you have it, Joel Campbell has done what so many footballers do nowadays and confirmed the news of a transfer before their club’s official accounts have done so.

Our Costa Rican international uploaded a photo of him holding the Villarreal scarf with pride to his Twitter account, a move which looks to be the sweetener in bringing Gabriel – apparently we aren’t to call him Paulista because that is just what someone is called who comes from Sao Paulo (how very hipster of me).

The news of Campbell’s departure – which I think we all accept basically signals the beginning of the end for the Costa Rican at the Emirates – will not please parts of the Arsenal faithful, with the feeling that Le Professeur never really gave the former Olympiacos loanee a fair crack of the whip.

Campbell made four sub appearances in the Premier League this season plus three appearances in the Champions League.

Joel Campbell needs more appearances to gain more stamina! going on loan to Villareal is a perfect decision by Le proffeseur Wenger!

I agree completely. Also the world cup is not top level. The last one was full of poor football and a good not great Germany team won the cup. Perfect move for the player. Look at Harry Kane, he had 3 loan moves before making the first team at tottenham.

I like the young stylish and gifted Joel. However we are at the stage of the season where there isnt any margin for error snd so need a settled team. Joel can come back stronger and battlehardened for next season. am sure he will.

Campbell’s return to Arsenal, to me is not 100% guaranteed. Wenger may ended the way of Carlos Vela.

It’s a little frustrating to see him go again. Very talented player. Even with Poldi and Sanogo gone he couldn’t even make the bench so I definitely understand the move from his viewpoint.. I doubt he will have the patience to wait until a space opens up in our squad. And if it does, Arsene will most likely buy a top player bacause we’re in a much better position to do so now..
