Arsenal are lining up a £35m bid for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema according to reports in Goal.com.

The Spanish club have only just parted ways with their coach Carlo Ancelotti and it would appear that more changes could be afoot at the Bernabeu this summer.

Benzema has been first-choice striker for Madrid for the past few seasons but always remained behind teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in the goalscoring stakes.

Last year’s Champions League winners have been linked with a move for Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero in recent weeks. Should this spectacular transfer come off it would pave the way for Benzema to move in the opposite direction.

Arsene is known to be a long-term fan of the 27-year-old striker and the move would represent something of a dream come true for both parties.

The club are aiming to win the league next season and securing Benzema for what should be his peak years would go a long way towards achieving this.
