Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has stated that his former side must end their 11-year wait for a Premier League title this season, stating his belief that this is the best chance Arsenal have had.

The Gunners sent shockwaves across the Premier League with a 3-0 demolition of Manchester United yesterday, beating the Red Devils for the first-time in the Premier League since May 2011 and securing their biggest victory over United this side of the millennia.

Henry, part of Sky Sports’ coverage for the game at the Emirates Stadium, was asked about Arsenal’s chances this season- to which he responded:

“Arsenal must win the league this year. They must win it.”

“I don’t know if they will get a better chance than this season. They have to win it this year, they must.”

Arsenal’s all-time leading goalscorer then said failure to qualify in the Champions League, with the possibility of entering the Europa League instead, could hurt the Gunners push for the title.

“It looks like it’s going be a hell of a task for Arsenal to go through in the Champions League,”

“The worst thing ever would be for them to play in the Europa League. Then they will really be in trouble playing that Thursday night game.”

“We all know what can happen when you play that Thursday night game. It’s not an easy one, you come back late Friday and have to play on Sunday or Monday.”

The fate of Arsenal’s Champions League hopes now rest upon a difficult double-header against Bayern Munich, where the Gunners will need results if they are to turn around their poor start to the group stage campaign.

Four points is a realistic target, which would put Arsenal in a much better position heading into the second matches against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos.
