Arsenal are believed to be among a whole host of clubs in the race for Augsburg’s 21 year old left back Abdul Rahman Baba. Known as Baba Rahman, the young Ghanaian has impressed greatly for the Bundesliga outfit since joining last summer and has now reportedly drawn interest from near and far.

Chelsea, Man United, Man City, Roma, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid round out the impressive host of clubs reportedly monitoring the player’s situation, and the youngster is tipped for a bright future. The Guardian reports that the player could command a fee as high as €20m (£14m).

Rahman helped Augsburg to a historic 5th place finish, with sensational displays down the left. Chelsea have reportedly made contact with the player’s representatives but nothing has been officially reported or confirmed as of yet.

The report mentioned quotes from Augsburg’s sporting director Stefan Reuter, who last week insisted the club were looking to hold on the player. Rahman still has four years of his contract remaining.

“There is nothing concrete on our table with regard to Abdul Rahman Baba,” he said.

“We are very happy to have him at our club, we are delighted he is playing for our club. We have been happy to hear him saying he feels great being with us.”

It comes as quite a surprise to hear Arsenal could be in for him, considering Nacho Monreal’s splendid form last season. Kieran Gibbs is waiting in the wings as well and is not much older than Rahman, so it is a bit unclear as to where he will fit in the side.
