Arsenal starlet Gedion Zelalem says it was the Arsenal coaching staff who convinced him a loan was the best option for him this season. Zelalem joined Rangers on a loan until January and is understood to be happy with life in Glasgow.

He made waves at his new club by contributing two assists on his debut, with Rangers fans taking to social media to express their delight.

Zelalem said Arsenal bosses Arsene Wenger and Steve Bould praised Celtic ahead of the move, and convinced him that move to Scotland would be most beneficial.

“I spoke to Arsene Wenger and Steve Bould and they thought it was a great opportunity, especially for my first loan.”

“They left the final decision to me but had nothing but great things to say about the club and the manager.”

“They said he believes in young players and the style of football was a major factor.”

It seems like a match made in heaven for the player, with USA international dazzling in his new club. He has slotted right into the side and has put in some commanding performances in the middle of the park.

He is one of the men mooted as the next generation of stars who will lead this club going forward, and a loan spell is crucial if he is to continue his development.
