Tuesday’s capitulation put a damper on what was shaping up as a good run of results for Arsenal. Three wins on the bounce against Anderlecht, Sunderland, and Burnley saw Arsenal finally begin to look like a team that is firing on all cylinders, so when the gunners went 3-0 up in the return fixture against Anderlecht it seemed things had finally clicked unto place. It wasn’t to be though and a colossal crash saw the Belgium side storm all the way back. Disappointing as it may be, Arsenal don’t have time to wallow in self pity for long. Football waits for no man, and Sunday will throw another challenge in Arsenal’s direction.

A visit to Swansea is always a tough fixture and this season will be no different. Swansea have lost just once at the Liberty Stadium this season on route to their best ever premier league start. They sit two places behind Arsenal and will be raring to go having had a full week’s preparation.

Previous matches:

25/03/14 Arsenal 2-2 Swansea (Premier League)

28/09/13 Swansea 1-2 Arsenal (Premier League)

16/03/13 Swansea 0-2 Arsenal (Premier League)

16/01/13 Arsenal 1-0 Swansea (F.A Cup replay)

06/01/13 Swansea 2-2 Arsenal (F.A Cup)

Team news

Arsenal – Mikel Arteta did his hamstring in midweek and will be unavailable but Jack Wilshere will return after illness. Walcott could start after his successful return from injury.

Swansea- Jonjo Shelvey will miss the match through suspension after seeing red against Everton last weekend, while the Swans will also be without long term absentee Leon Britton despite his return to training.

Prediction

I don’t expect to Arsenal to keep a clean sheet unfortunately, but do I expect a better defensive display so I’m going for a hard fought 2-1 or 3-2 win. Bony could score for Swansea but I expect Alexis to continue his hot streak and Welbeck to get back on track in front of goal. He has three goals in his last three appearances against Swansea.
