Arsene Wenger has committed himself to only signing ‘world-class stars’ this summer and said that he plans to spend big again.

The Gunners made a big statement with the signing of Mesut Ozil for £42.4million in the summer of 2013 and continued this trend by buying Alexis Sanchez for £35million from Barcelona last summer.

After last night’s win over Hull Arsene said:

‘We do not need to buy a number of players. If we can get top, world-class players we will look at it’.

This would suggest that Arsenal are only going to be after the cream of the crop in the coming transfer window – something that is going to be music to Gooners’ ears everywhere.

The Gaffer, classy as ever, added:

‘I feel that we have made progress. Chelsea is a worthy winner this year because they have been the most consistent team of all’.

Let’s hope Arsenal make the kind of signings to give us the confidence to finish top next season.
