Mesut Ozil has revealed that he has finally reached the apex of his game yet again. The club’s record signing endured a bit of an indifferent start to life in London, seemingly off the pace and finding it difficult to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.

His first season at the club was largely uneventful by some estimation and a serious injury suffered this season threatened to doom him to a similar fate, but his form since his return has been brilliant. He has has been a revelation for the side and looks to be back to the world beating form we know and love him for.

The World Cup winner now says he is happy with his performances and feels he is returning to top form. In an interview with Sport Magazine, he had this to say ahead of today’s match:

“At the moment I am pleased with the consistency of my game. I feel I am now playing my best football since joining Arsenal.”

“I was exhausted at the start of the season. I started playing professional football at the age of 16 and had never really suffered many serious injuries.”

He continued, saying his injury was both a gift and a curse and says he has had to learn to cope with the pace and intensity of the Premier League.

“I guess 10 years of consistently playing football took its toll. I was also struggling with the physicality of this league.

“The injury worked in my favour in a way, as it gave me time to recover, to assess and to work on what was required to compete in this league.”

There was never any doubt from us gooners that Mesut would return to his best sooner rather than later. We are absolutely thrilled to have him back on form, as he makes the side tick over. Much of Arsenal’s future success will include him as he is one of the cornerstones of the side.

Superlative form from Mesut as of late, and expect more of the same today.

Driving Arsenal to success?
