Last week’s announcement that Jurgen Klopp would be parting ways with Borussia Dortmund at the end of the campaign blew the top off the rumour mill, and of course reopened the Klopp to Arsenal links.

In the off chance that the Arsenal executives are actually considering what many are intimating, which is Wenger out and Klopp in, they should ignore these inclinations at all cost. There is simply no guarantee that Klopp will do a better job than Wenger, and the project the boss has started at Arsenal should be given more time to develop further.

Klopp is a brilliant manager and leader of men, but speculation of him being better suited for Arsenal than Wenger is a bit rash. I’m all for Klopp succeeding Wenger, but only when the boss steps down and the time is right. Making the switch before then I think would have negative effects on the squad.

For me, Klopp’s early success with Dortmund is what endears him to fans of other sides, especially gooners. He, like Wenger, had to deal with several financial constraints, while also losing his best players to a rival club, but still managed to deliver silverware.

The natural inclination is to believe that he could achieve the same if not more if given reigns of a presumably better squad, but I wouldn’t be so sure. The Premier League is a totally different animal. To predict that Klopp would find success immediately is a bit naive really.

Times have changed as well, Arsenal no longer have these financial constraints and Wenger is far less limited in his spending power (as is evident by the £100 million spent over the past few summers). He can now reap the benefits having endured a long difficult spell, so to make the switch now would be unfair.
