Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, is ready to sell Galacticos striker Karim Benzema and has notified Arsenal of his decision, according to reports from Dario Gol (via the Metro).

The France international, despite bagging 12 goals this term, is thought to be lagging behind his usual standards, in the eyes of the Bernabeu hierarchy.

Furthermore, a shock exit from the Copa Del Rey has seemingly convinced the club president to ship out the 29-year-old.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to north London for years now, however, the Gunners may face competition from runaway Premier League winners, Chelsea, who have also been made aware of the striker’s availability.

Meanwhile, French giants are also keen to offer the forward a return to his home country as they continue to look for a replacement for the firepower of the now Manchester United striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, Wenger may shy away from splashing on another striker after Danny Welbeck returned with a top-notch performance against Southampton in the FA Cup.
