Napoli and Lorenzo Insigne are reportedly getting closer to an agreement after reopening contract talks, according to the Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via Tuttomercatoweb).

The Italian has been subject to interest from Arsenal after a report by Gazzamercato revealed that Gunners scouts were present to watch the 25 year old against Chievo Verona at the weekend.

The winger’s current deal is set to expire in 2019 but the player is unhappy with his current salary, which is reported to be around €1.8million a season (£30,000 a week).

The player’s agent has been asking for €5million a year, but so far Napoli owner Aurelio Di Laurentiis has refused to give in to the demands. Their last offer was reportedly €3.2million as season but although that proposal was also not accepted by the player, the local newspaper Corriere del Mezzogiorno say the two parties are gradually working towards an agreement.

Insigne’s form has improved significantly since the start of the season and it has no doubt played a role in Arsenal’s interest, but also in Napoli’s greater urgency to resolve the differences in contract talks.
