Don’t worry, it isn’t Kim Kallstrom returning for a second pointless spell. It is 24 year old Brazilian enforcer Romulo. According to various reports including the Metro and the Express, Arsenal already have a deal in place to bring the player to North London.

Brazilian newspaper Lance has gone as far to confirm a fee of £9.5 million has been agreed for the player and say the club and player have also agreed on personal terms as well.

Romulo joined the Russian side in 2012 from Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama. He is a defensive midfielder by trade and has 22 league appearances for the side. The 24 year old has also made 8 caps for his country, including all six in the London Olympics in 2012.

He is a strong and able ball winner, good in the tackle and technically sound as well. He has the physical attributes to play in the Premier League so let’s see how far this rumour goes. The Russian league is currently on break until March, so I’m not sure how fit the player is, but it seems there is something to Arsenal’s interest.

I myself am not fully convinced, and won’t be until official confirmation is given, but I do rate the player and think it’s a good bit of business.

Let’s just hope that should he join, he emulates Gilberto Silva and not Denilson or Andre Santo, as far past countrymen to play for Arsenal goes.

That and a CB would make our winter. Then in the summer we can ship out a few and bring in one more marque signing. Dreaming? Well, allow me the luxury to.
