Arsenal may miss out on RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita after the Guinean international opened contract talks with the German club, according to Bild.

The German tabloid reports that the Gunners and Paris Saint-Germain have been keeping tabs on the 22 year old. He has been one of the Leipzig’s standpoint performers in an excellent first season in the Bundesliga.

Keita reportedly had a telephone conversation with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in summer about moving to the Emirates but the midfielder remained in Germany.

His current contract, worth €2.7million a season, expires in 2020 but Bild report that Leipzig will offer €4.5million a season to persuade Keita to stay at the German club.

Sporting Director Ralf Rangnick confirmed to the newspaper that talks with Keita are under way, and that they are hopeful of extending his deal in a similar way to team mate Emil Forsberg. The Swedish winger was also linked with a move to Arsenal before he signed a contract extension.
