Arsenal’s Welsh superstar Aaron Ramsey has conceded he can’t remember how long it has been since he last scored for the Gunners.

The 24-year-old has featured 12 times for club and country this season but is yet to find the net for either, though he’ll hope to break his duck in a crucial week ahead of him.

Arsenal host Manchester United on Sunday in a pivotal Premier League clash, where a Gunners victory would see them pull level on points with Louis Van Gaal’s side, before Ramsey heads on international duty with Wales in search of one point that will send the nation into next summer’s European Championships.

Speaking to The Independent, Ramsey revealed his disappointment at not finding the net yet this season with his last goal in a competitive fixture coming at the back-end of last season against Hull City.

“I don’t know how long it’s been since my last goal. I just know I haven’t got off the mark yet this season, which I’m disappointed with.”

He expressed his delight for team-mate Alexis Sanchez though, who scored his first goal of the season against Leicester City last weekend before securing a hat-trick and then adding another goal to his tally in the midweek defeat to Olympiacos.

“It’s nice to see Alexis scoring again. You could see his frustration before that and how much he wanted to score. It wasn’t just him. There are a few other players – myself included – who are a bit frustrated not to get a goal, but I’m delighted for him that he’s finally got off the mark.””

“As soon as the first one goes in [for Sanchez], two more fly in straight away! Hopefully now he’s in a good place where he can just go from strength to strength.”

Ramsey is inspired by Alexis’ sudden return to killer form and like many Arsenal fans he is hoping to follow suit, with the Gunners crying out for more goalscorer in the squad.

“That’s how it goes. You get frustrated and then all of a sudden a few games down the line one comes and the next thing you know you’re scoring on a regular basis again. Hopefully I can be there soon as well.”

Arsenal will be desperate to provide the perfect response to their woeful Champions League defeat to Olympiakos, which would put them well-amongst the contenders for Premier League glory as they head into the second international break of the season.
