Arsene Wenger has again sung the praises of Alexis Sanchez. Before today’s match, Wenger spoke about the Chilean’s impact at the club since joining, likening it to that of Diego Costa’s on the other side of London. The boss took it  a step further and said Alexis could go on to emulate Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Extraordinary praise from the boss and something we hope spurs Alexis on even more.

“He is a fine buy,”  said Wenger.

“In buys of the season in English football he would be up there with Diego Costa at Chelsea.”

“He might be as important to us as Thierry Henry one day.”

“There are similarities – like both being underestimated and under-used at Barcelona – but Henry has shown that consistent way throughout his career.

“I am confident Sanchez can do that – but he also has to score as many goals as Thierry.”

A comparison to the great Thierry should be enough motivation for any player, and we hope Alexis realizes his importance to us (I would imagine it would be hard for him not to).
