Mathieu Debuchy has provided an update on his injury, saying he hopes to return to training next month. Debuchy looked a real fit for Arsenal and a natural replacement to Sagna and we gooners were extremely disappointed to see him go down with injury so soon in his Arsenal career.

None more so than the player himself who revealed his frustration but says he is determined to return even stronger after his injury. Speaking to an Arsenal school in Dubai, Mathieu had this to say:

“My injury is now better.” “I work hard every day with the physio and I want to be back on the pitch in December. I’m looking forward to it.”

“I was really proud when I signed for Arsenal and it has been frustrating getting injured so soon, but I am focused on coming back stronger. I am very positive about that.”

He continued.

“Training at Arsenal is an extremely high standard. I’m nearly 30 but I’m still improving by training with players who are of such a high quality, like everyone at Arsenal.”

“It’s been more frustrating watching from the stands than being on the pitch. The last two games have been quite positive and hopefully when we face Manchester United we’ll come out on top.”

Great news for Arsenal, as any step in the direction of a clean bill of health is a positive one. Arsenal sure could use him right about now, with the back line anything but stable at the moment. The best we can hope for is to have Debuchy available for the hectic Christmas period.
