Joel Campbell has reiterated his intention to fight for his place at Arsenal. The Costa Rican star spoke to the official website about his delight with the win over Galatasaray in midweek, and said he was happy to be involved in the match. Campbell played the full 90 minutes and says he relishes any bit of action he gets and will do his best to earn more in the future.

“It was an important victory for us,” he said.

“Although there wasn’t all that much riding on the match, it was a chance for us to try and get first place in the group. We didn’t manage that, but we did get a good win.”

“I always try and take advantage of the chances that come my way and play as well as I can. I know that I can give more, so I’m working hard day in, day out to improve as a player.”

“The Champions League is a big competition for any player. In a team like Arsenal, it’s easier to play well because you’re surrounded by good players. I just try to do the best I can so that I might be involved in future games.”

“We need to be fighting for the trophy. We’re in there and any team still in the competition at this point has a chance of winning the cup. We’ll be working very hard to try and achieve that.”

Campbell’s statements, along with Wenger’s recent statements saying he plans to keep the player, bodes well for his future at the club.

Joel is a man who clearly has the right attitude. He is willing to stick it out and fight for his opportunities and that deserves much plaudits. Campbell should continue to work hard and with that mindset he will get a lot more time on the pitch in the near future.
