Wojciech Szczesny is looking ahead to Arsenal upcoming Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, and has warned his teammates not to take qualification for granted.

Arsenal host their German counterparts needing just a point from their last two matches to guarantee a place in the knockout round. Of course we wouldn’t be having this conversation had Arsenal beaten Anderlecht, but as it stands Arsenal are still in a strong position to qualify. Arsenal sit second, five points ahead of Anderlecht and travel to bottom club Galatasaray on the final matchday of the group.

Still Szczesny has insisted there is no time for complacency and maintains Arsenal must not take qualification for granted.

“We know that we only need one point from our last two matches to qualify for the last sixteen, but we know that we have not made it yet,” he said.

“We are playing at home in front of our fans and we are confident that we can put in a good performance and qualify.”

He continued.

“We all know that our last match in the Champions League at home to Anderlecht was disappointing, to only get a draw from that position, but we must put that behind us.”

“We are all ready to bounce back against Dortmund on Wednesday and hopefully get a place in the last 16.”

Szczesny conceded that Arsenal’s chances of winning the group are slim, but insisted that Arsenal will do everything in their power to achieve this goal.

“Our aim is to obviously win the group. In the past few years we have come second in the group and then got really tough draws in the last sixteen, so of course, it’s important to try to win the group,” he said.

“We know that results have to go in our favour for us to win the group, but we are going to give it everything.”

Good enthusiasm and optimism from Wojciech, unfortunately the performances from Arsenal lately haven’t matched. Hopefully that isn’t the case in three days time.
