In the world of media savvy footballers, it is hard not to read further into Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos’ latest comments about the Premier League.

Speaking to the Spanish publication AS, the defender said:

“The only thing I will say is that with every passing day I prefer the English Premier League

“What am I talking about? Obviously not the ball-boys…the style of play, the refereeing.

“People enjoy watching that competition. When you lose it’s easy to focus on the refereeing decisions.”

The 28-year-old has been linked with Arsenal – as well as Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea – with the Gunners looking to plug the ever growing holes in their defence.

Whether Ramos is a realistic target – or a genuine one – remains to be seen; there is no denying us Gooners would welcome someone of the Spanish international’s calibre, though.
