Celtic star and long time Arsenal target Virgil van Dijk has revealed his delight at being linked with a move to the the Emirates, calling the news “fantastic.”

Van Dijk has been the subject of intense speculation for a the better part of a year now with many reports linking Arsenal with a possible move this January. Van Dijk says no move is forthcoming this winter but admits he would be open to a move later on down the line.

“There are plenty of clubs interested, but from what I hear, the asking price of Celtic is enormous. The club is very clear: They will not let me go in the winter” he said.

“If there is a nice club from England that comes, then we should consider it. I want of course to develop as a player.”

He added: “It goes terribly fast. I have recently been thinking a bit about it. I am now 23 and have played at Willem II, FC Groningen and Celtic and I am now linked to clubs like Arsenal. That’s fantastic!”

Van Dijk is clearly a player with his head on his shoulders. It seems unlikely Arsenal will make a move for him having just signed Gabriel, but a move could be on in the summer or later window. What do you think gooners? Is van Dijk Arsenal material? Do you think this link is fantastic as well? Let us know in the comments below.
