Following months of rumours linking Arsenal with a move for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin – although they seem to have died down a bit lately(?) – we are now being linked with another Saints midfielder.

When I first saw the headline,  I assumed it was going to be Ronald Koeman side’s powerhouse in the middle of the park, Victor Wanyama. However, it is in fact not an established first-team player but a future star in Callum Slattery.

Despite only being 16, Slattery has made such an impression that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been linked with a summer move for the England Under-16 international.

If Arsene Wenger does make a move for the Saints man, he will no doubt allude to the progression of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Calum Chambers and Theo Walcott following their moves from the South Coast to north London.

Following the recent arrival of Krystian Bielik, it appears Arsene is already preparing for Arsenal’s future when he eventually leaves.
