Arsene Wenger’s latest press conference ahead of the crucial Premier League clash with Leicester City this weekend has handed Arsenal yet another boost on the injury front.

Heading into this weekend, Tomas Rosicky is the only long-term absentee following his injury sustained in the FA Cup against Burnley two weeks ago.

Apart from that, only three players remain unavailable and one of them, Danny Welbeck, is ‘very close’ to a return according to Wenger.

I think he is very close. Fitness-wise he is there, it is just competition he misses. It is a bit early for him maybe but he is now back to full power in training. It is a big possibility [he could be involved against Hull next week].”

“We gave him one or two days recovery after the under-21 game, but now he is back in full training. He has worked very hard and he is fit.”

The other two absent Arsenal players are midfield duo Jack Wilshere, yet to feature this season, and the experienced Santi Cazorla, both of whom are now just weeks away from a full return.

“They are back running, they are on a fitness programme now so it means it is not a question of months anymore, it is a question of weeks for them to be back. I can’t count on them in the next three or four weeks but everybody else yes [I will count on them].”

It’s a massive boost for Arsenal who head into a crucial run of fixtures, which sees Premier League ties with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur on the horizon, as well as a double-header in the Champions League against Barcelona.
