Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky has revealed that the rapturous reception he received on his return from injury last weekend brought tears to his eyes.

The 35-year-old midfielder came on as a substitute in Arsenal’s FA Cup fourth round victory over Burnley last weekend, where the long-serving Gunner made his first appearance in seven months.

Unfortunately, Rosicky’s return did not go as well as everyone hoped as he suffered another injury that may well rule him out for the remainder of the season. However, he was clearly touched by the reception he received from the home fans.

“It was unbelievable, something I didn’t expect. Since the moment I started to warm up on the sidelines it was exceptional. Honestly, I had tears in my eyes after such a long time being out.”

“I started to warm up and the reception was unbelievable and I will never forget it. Obviously it is the worse thing [getting injured again] and the feeling I cannot give the fans anything back at the moment is frustrating.”

“I was out for a long time so obviously the relationship with the fans after 10 years was always great and they always knew I played my heart out and they always appreciated me and I appreciated them.”

Rosicky sees his Arsenal contract expire at at 35, it’s extremely unlikely he will renew with the North London giants. However, we all hope to see him again in the famous red and white before he departs.
