Arsenal have been handed a blow with the full extent revealed on the injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.

Both England internationals were lost within the opening twenty minutes of the 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup on Tuesday and were immediately suspected to be ruled out of this weekend’ss clash with Swansea City.

Their absence for this weekend’s Premier League clash has now been confirmed and the duo are also expected to miss the crucial Champions League clash with Bayern Munich in midweek, as well as the following North London derby.

Following an injury to Aaron Ramsey last week, Arsenal’s options on the right-hand side have been severely effected- with Joel Campbell now having the chance to stake a claim for a long-term spot in the side.

Arsenal are perhaps benefited by the international break from the 13th November, where there are no fixtures for the Gunners, and Arsene Wenger will hope the duo will be able to return after England’s friendly fixtures.

The Gunners will be hoping that at least one of the pair will be able to return for the Premier League clash with West Brom on November 21st, which is followed by the hosting of Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott take Arsenal’s current absentee list to eight, with Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky being long-term absentees. David Ospina and Mikel Arteta are also sidelined.
