Arsenal’s record transfer signing Mesut Ozil is nearing a full return from his lengthy injury layoff. The German world cup winner suffered a mystery knee injury against Chelsea in October and has been sidelined since, but since he is close to a comeback and admits he missed the pitch.

Speaking to the Arsenal player, he said he grew frustrated watching from the sidelines.

“I am working every day to get myself fit and I am on the right path now. It won’t be much too much longer before I am back on the pitch,” he said.

“I hope to be back training with the whole team again as soon as possible.”

He added: “After a time, you really miss playing football. You miss the ball and just want to play.

“When you watch the games and think that you could have been playing, and playing well, it makes you miss it, but that’s the way things are.”

He also offered his opinion on how the boys did in his absence, saying Arsenal’s play warranted more points.

“When you watch the games, we have dominated a lot of them, but have conceded unnecessary goals. That can’t happen, because in the Premier League, every team is capable of beating one another,” he said.

“We have to get our points by playing the game our way and I am convinced that we will finish the season near the top of the table.”

Good news for Arsenal, and hopefully more of the same will be said after tomorrow’s clash with Liverpool. Arsenal of course do not have Ozil to call upon at Anfield, but sooner or later our number 11 will be back within our ranks!
