The young Wellington Silva has been on the Arsenal’s books for quite a while despite never pulling on Arsenal first team shirt. The Brazilian is highly rated but work permit issues have prevented him from his chance at in North London. Those issues are no longer apparently, as he has finally been granted his UK permit and is eligible to play for Arsenal starting next year.

Silva was elated by the news and told spanish reporters that he hopes to fight for his chance at Arsenal next season.

“It is very important for me. I could go back to Arsenal next season if Wenger wants me to” he said. “It’s true I can now go back to Arsenal from next season. I would be very happy if I could become an idol at a club like Arsenal. I will give my best to become a great player.”

He maintains that he is not worried too much about it the moment though.

“I am not going to worry about my future and my only desire right now is to help Almeria preserve their La Liga status…. At this moment, I am focused on the present.”

I’m sure we all know the story by now but for those who don’t, Silva was signed by Arsenal from Fluminense in 2011. He was initially due to receive a “special talent visa” but when the F.A backtracked he was sent on loan on five different occasions. Spells with Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, and Murcia all came before his current spell with Almeria.

Attitude, form, and fitness all hampered his progress along with his permit visa issues but it seems he is free from all three hindrances and looks sure to return to Arsenal next year.

I said before that I rate the player (although the next Neymar might be a stretch) and I am looking forward to seeing him get a chance at Arsenal.
