Arsenal’s Player of the Year Award nominee full of praise for “spectacular” teammate

Alexis Sanchez’s debut season at Arsenal ranks right up there with the best. He is a little ways off of Thierry Henry’s 26 goal tally in his first season with the club, but has surpassed Dennis Bergkamp’s 11. The Chilean has been an absolute revelation for the club, tied for first in both the goals and assist columns.

Such is his performances that he has been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year Award, but Sanchez has moved to praise the role of his teammates in his instant success. He was full of praise for all of his comrades, but reserved perhaps the best praise for a certain Spaniard.

“Santi Cazorla is a spectacular player,” he said. “Although I knew about his quality, playing alongside him makes me very happy.”

“You never know whether he will kick the ball with his right or left foot. Also, he moves with short but quick strides, which is a remarkable trademark too.”

Alexis continued, lauding the ability of all his teammates, and talked up the club’s future title chances.

“When I arrived at the club I didn’t know the players that well, but I was really surprised by everyone’s quality,” he added.”

“I am not saying this just because it’s my obligation to do it as a club player. Every Arsenal footballer has amazing quality. Being part of a team like this makes me very proud. I am willing to win many titles here.”

Such humility and sincerity from Alexis. Just when we gooners thought we couldn’t like him any more. He deserves the Player of the Year Award for me, on the grounds that this is his debut year in England. He is Arsenal’s player of the year regardless, and cannot wait to see what the future holds with Alexis in our ranks.
