Arsene Wenger has backed Jack Wilshere to have a big impact this season, saying the player will return stronger than ever if he can stay fit.

Wilshere managed just 30 games last season total for club and country, having sustained yet another serious ankle injury. Wenger believes that Wilshere will not be affected by these setbacks, and backs the player to bounce back this season.

A report from squeakybumtime.com quotes Wenger as saying this about the player:

“He’s a top-class player with a top-class potential.”

“No matter how good you are in life, you need to have a consistent presence at the top.”

“Today, what top-level sport doesn’t suffer is to be in and out because it’s too demanding physically [to stay in].”

“What you wish for Jack is that he can compete now for six months without any problem, or for a year without any problem, and then you will see the player we all know he is.”

Its safe to say we gooners share the same hopes for Jack. A long run of fitness should bring out the best in Jack, as he will get to enjoy himself on the pitch one more. If he can indeed stay fit, I have no doubt he will live up to his huge billing.
