Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club are not close to completing any deals before the January deadline this month.
Most Arsenal fans are always desperate for the French manager to land at least one big deal in each window as the side go in search of their first Premier League title in over a decade, as well as success on the continent.
With Bayern Munich in the round of 16 of the Champions League, again, many feel that something needs adding if the Gunners are to make it past the first knockout round of Europe’s top competition, for the first time in six years.
Speaking ahead of the the FA Cup fourth round clash with Southampton, a modern day bogey team and quite possibly a nightmare to face after their EFL Cup success at Anfield on Wednesday, the boss was pressed on the club’s Deadline Day dealings.
As if to quash any talk with immediate effect, Wenger simply said:
“We are not on the verge of signing anyone.”
I guess that’s that then? Or is he playing mind games with us?
