I want Milan, then Juventus, then Barcelona

Some readers have emailed me asking who I want in the next round of the Champions League.

The draw will be made later today, and Arsenal could face any one of AC Milan / Barcelona / Benfica / Inter Milan or Ajax / Juventus / Lyon / Villareal.

Personally, I want AC Milan in the next round. They won't be the easiest team to play against, and the signs are good for the Milan team. Whenever they have played Bayern Munich in the Champions League, they have gone on to win the competition.

But I still want to play them. I want an Italian team in the next round, so I won't mind Inter either if they can get past Ajax. I think Arsenal do well against Italian teams.

Who can forget away wins against Roma (3-1) and Inter Milan (5-1)? Of course, I remember the 3-0 humbling at home by Inter, but we more than made up for that on the return.

I also want AC Milan because after Real Madrid, they are recognised as Europe's top and most glamorous club. Beating Real Madrid and AC Milan in a single season would be phenomenal.

Then I want Juventus in the semi-finals. I want Juventus so badly, because I want Arsenal to win that game and show Patrick Vieira that just because you've moved on to another club, it doesn't mean your chances of winning the Champions League is greater. All 8 teams left have the same chance.

Who else but Barcelona in the final? Arsenal v Real Madrid was a superb contest, two heavyweights going for the jugular. What better spectacle for a final than the prettiest team in England against the prettiest team in La Liga?

Henry v Ronaldinho. Reyes v Eto'o. Fabregas v Messi. Van Bronckhorst v Ashley Cole. The array of attacking talent on display will ensure a mouth-watering final, if not the best final of all time.

I'm getting ahead of myself, but one can dream, can't he?
