If Thierry Henry was playing in defence, Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger would not have had any qualms about playing his top striker.
Wenger said yesterday that Henry had not recovered sufficiently to play from the start at Old Trafford, as Henry had played up front on his own in the Champions League, where Arsenal deployed a 4-5-1 system.
Wenger said: "He had not recovered from Wednesday night but he was not injured or I would not have put him on the teamsheet.
"He has played more games than the other players and he played on his own up front against Juventus twice.
"It is different for a striker than a defender."
Why then, did Wenger not partner Henry with Adebayor or van Persie, which would mean Henry being able to share the workload with another striker.
Wenger however, doesn't think the game was lost because Henry was on the bench.
Wenger added: "But overall I think we lost because we lacked a little bit of sharpness. In a big game you must score first, basically, if you want to win.
"You cannot lose a goal like we lost the first one."
