Arsenal are considering legal action against Sunderland's Dan Smith for the challenge on Abou Diaby.
19-year-old Diaby's season is over after suffering a fractured and dislocated ankle. It is thought that he will be out for up to six months.
Arsenal were left furious over the tackle, and manager Arsène Wenger was particularly furious that Diaby's chances of playing in the Champions League final is over.
Arsenal are pursuing a number of options against Smith, and Wenger confirmed that issuing legal proceedings against the Sunderland man was one of the options available.
