Defender commits his future to Arsenal

Pascal Cygan has committed his future to Arsenal, and accepts that he is viewed more as a substitute than a first teamer at the North London club.

Cygan has performed admirably this season when he has had to fill in for injured first choice defenders Kolo Touré, Sol Campbell or Philippe Senderos.

The Frenchman from French club Lille has always given his best.

Cygan said: "I am fine, but I can't tackle or accelerate. I feel stiffness. The doctors don't know what I am suffering from/

"My back thigh strain is cured, but I still feel discomfort. I should have come back against Real, and then Juventus, but I was never fit in time.

"I am here for four years. I thought about leaving during my first two years.

"Arsène made me come to be a substitute. I have finally accepted that state because there are only international players here.

"I feel like a Londoner. At the beginning it was a little difficult for my wife. It was easier for me because in the changing room we speak French."

I agree with Adam. He has the heart to be a good player. If he could just raise his game.
