Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has spoken about the intention of the Spanish giants keeping the services of on loan forward José Antonio Reyes permanently.
"I think Reyes is going to stay here forever," Calderon told Sky Sports News. "My idea is to sign a contract for six or seven years."
Reyes has started well in his stay at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeau, scoring his first goal for the club on the weekend against Real Sociedad.
On transfer deadline day the former Sevilla player went to the capital in exchange for Brazilian Julio Baptista, who moved the opposite way to the Arsenal on loan. This all came about after a long transfer saga where Reyes publically spoke about his desire to leave Arsenal.
Calderon added: "It's true, at that time (of concluding the deals), it was very difficult to decide what to do because Baptista wanted to leave Real and Reyes wanted to leave Arsenal."
"We did that at the last minute and did that in a way with the loan, with an option to buy. Both clubs can buy the player, paying an amount we've already fixed."
"I'm quite sure Reyes is going to stay here, but I don't know what's going to happen with Baptista. It's something the coach has to decide."
"My intention, which I said in my campaign, is I am not going to interfere with what the coach is going to do. This case depends on what's going to happen at the end of the season."
