Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger hailed his players after an impressive and much-needed confidence boosting performance against Premiership champions Chelsea.
The Gunners had taken the lead through Mathieu Flamini but a late Michael Essien strike ensured that the points were shared across London.
Wenger said: "I felt proud of the boys today.
"We have had a lot of physical games recently and we here and have played a very good game with a young side with a good spirit.
"It was a very good football game for the neutral.
"The quality of our performance and our team spirit was absolutely tremendous."
The Arsenal chief also saluted his young emergency defence, who were lacking experience due to the absence of key players such as Kolo Touré, Lauren and William Gallas.
He added: "We had a very young defence and I wanted to give them protection, to not be too open too much.
"It worked well overall. When you look at their age, what they did today was sensational.
"We came to try to win the game and we nearly did that. Don't forget Chelsea didn't play last weekend so we had a little physical disadvantage.
"I knew the final part of the game would be difficult for us physically but when you get so close to winning of course you want to keep it going. "
